Thando Ntobela

Thando Ntobela was born in Durban in KZN,  South Africa, in 1979. She is Mpondo Xhosa but considers the Eastern Cape her true home and sister to Zandile and Ntombephi.

Thando has the ability to capture emotional dialogue so aptly that when looking at her art one can see the very emotions she is experiencing. Her gift to us is that she gives us a tangible representation of what most of us feel but can’t describe.

Acknowledged in 2013 at the Smithsonian as an International artist, at the opening of ‘Ubuhle Women; Beadwork and the Art of Independence’, she continues to create work that astonishes her audience with both her perception of life and dedication to detail.
